Application Information

Eligibility: Students enrolled or pre-registered to attend a New Hanover County Public School for the 2019-2020 school year are eligible to apply.  Students not currently attending a NHCS school will need to pre-register at their base school beginning March, 2019 in order to complete this application.
Parents are encouraged to visit the schools of interest during designated tours and explore the schools online to determine the best fit for their child.

Applications: Complete and submit the one page application for the school(s) of your choice. Applications will be available March, 2019 at every New Hanover County elementary school, the Magnet and Choice Schools Fair, and on the NHCS web site. Once the application is completed, it should be submitted to the NHCS Student Support Services Department.  Magnet school applications are accepted by email, U.S. mail, fax, or hand delivery.

Online and Paper Applications will be accepted according to the following enrollment timeline.
Kindergarten 
Applications for Codington, Eaton, Freeman, Snipes year-round and International School at Gregory will be accepted from March XX-XX, 2019 for initial lottery draw. 
Grades 1-5 
Applications for Codington, Eaton, Freeman and Snipes year-round schools will be accepted from March XX thru April XX, 2019 for initial lottery draw. 
Applications for all Open Choice schools, Grades K-12, will be accepted from March XX thru April XX, 2019. 
A lottery may be held if there are more applications to attend magnet schools than spaces available.

Transportation is provided to all magnet schools.
