In May 2021, Emanuel Parada Peralta will wrap up his journey at WECHS with a high school diploma and an Associates of Science from Cape Fear Community College. Next fall he will begin a new journey at Elon University in Elon, NC after earning both a Presidential Scholarship and a Communications Scholarship based on merit for more than $30,000. What is your intended major?
I intend to double major in sports management and another yet to be determined major.
How much is your scholarship?
As part of the odyssey program I was accepted to, I will receive a yearly scholarship of $30,000. I also received a presidential scholarship based on merit and a communication merit scholarship which are both in total $11,500 (both yearly). In addition,my need was fully met through financial aid from FASFA.
How did you decide to apply/attend Elon?
I was interested in its location close to home and it's 18 certified schools.
How do you think CFCC prepared you?
The immense help I've received is greatly appreciated. I now understand how to apply for classes, communicate with my counselor, and adapt to the college class schedule which I choose.
What is one memorable moment from WECHS/CFCC?
A recent and profound moment has been the moments when I told staff members at WECHS about my acceptance into the odyssey program and how thankful I am for their support.
Who has been the most influential?
The most influential support I have received has been from the WECHS staff. The most influential work I have the pleasure to been a part of is the literature classes at CFCC.
Do you have anything else to add?
At this moment I am extremely grateful for the opportunity of furthering my education, I will hold these couple of years in high school dearly to my heart forever.
