About Us
Our Vision:
To nurture global citizens who are innovative, principled, and resilient.
Our Mission:
Wilmington Early College High School was established through a partnership between New Hanover County Schools and Cape Fear Community College to provide students with an opportunity to earn an Associate's Degree, certifications, and/or transferable college credits with their high school diploma. WECHS is a four to five year program where students engage in a rigorous academic curriculum of honors and college-level coursework to prepare them to be college and career ready. Our expectation is that all of our students will graduate with both their Associate's and their diploma, making our program truly "A Degree Above."
The faculty and staff of WECHS support this mission and fulfill its' purposes by:
-
Recruiting, enrolling, advising and retaining a diverse student population
-
Evaluating existing programs and implementing innovative practices to best serve the needs of the school community
-
Providing multi-tiered support services that help students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally
-
Enhancing student life through clubs, leadership opportunities, and community partnerships
-
Empowering students to develop goals and apply strategies to achieve them
-
Encouraging students to exhibit ethical behavior in and out of the classroom
-
Guiding students in the development of effective communication and critical thinking skills
